Manna: A Ledger That Does Not Wait
Gandoki · written before the genesis block
For anyone who has waited for permission to use what is already theirs.
Abstract
Manna is a public ledger that anyone can read and nobody can rewrite. Its coin, MNA, pays for every action on the chain, so the chain pays for itself. Supply is fixed at 200,000,000 MNA at genesis and only ever shrinks: part of every new token’s launch fee is burned for good. Every wallet, including mine, is visible to everyone. No bank sits in the middle, no queue decides who goes first, and nobody can freeze what you hold because they are having a bad day.
1. Introduction
We were told to wait. Wait for the bank to open. Wait for the transfer to reflect. Wait for the limit to lift, for the rate to settle, for someone to approve what is already ours.
Money that waits for permission is not money. It is a promise someone else keeps when it suits them.
Manna removes the waiting. A payment is a line on a ledger that every node holds. When the line is written, it is done. There is nobody to call and nobody to beg.
2. Transactions
A transaction moves MNA, or a token built on Manna, from one wallet to another. The sender signs it. The ledger checks the signature and the balance, takes the gas, and writes the line. A written line cannot be reversed. Not by me, not by anyone.
3. The public ledger
The ledger is the only record. Every node keeps a full copy, and the copies agree. You give up hiding what you hold. In return, nobody can lie about it either: not a bank, not a whale, not me.
4. Gas
Every action on Manna costs a little MNA. Gas keeps spam off the chain and pays the nodes that keep the ledger. It should cost something to shout, and almost nothing to speak.
5. Supply and burning
There will only ever be 200,000,000 MNA. No one can print more. Not a committee, not a vote, not me. When someone launches a new token, 20% of the launch fee is sent to the burn address and is gone forever.
- Supply at genesis
- 200,000,000 MNA
- New MNA after genesis
- None
- Burned from each launch fee
- 20%
- Who can change these rules
- Nobody
6. Tokens on Manna
Anyone can build a token on Manna. USDM, the Manna Dollar, is always worth $1.00. A token is only as honest as the person who made it. The chain will not save you from a creator who pulls the pool; it will only show you, afterwards, exactly how it was done.
7. My wallets
I hold 10,000,000 MNA, 5% of supply, in nine public wallets.
- G-0 Genesis · 5,000,000
- It will never spend. Not one coin, ever.
- G-1 to G-8 · 625,000 each
- These may move. When they do, you will see it.
G-0 is the proof that I mean what I wrote here. If you ever see a line leaving G-0, the person who wrote this paper is gone, and you should trust nothing in it.
8. Privacy
A wallet is an address, not a name. Keep your recovery phrase to yourself: anyone who asks for it, even someone using my name, is a thief. I will never ask.
9. Conclusion
Manna is a ledger that does not wait and does not forget. I have written what I can. The ledger will remember the rest.
